every year, since austin and emily were old enough to attend vacation bible school (at sunrise, where they went to preschool)...we have carried on the tradition. austin, emily & brett are now leaders...while abby, coleman, hannah & hampton are still enjoying the fun! what a blessing the week is. the kids come home singing awesome songs with actions...eager to perform for anyone willing to sit and watch! each year, coins are collected daily to raise money for the cause they have selected for the year. this year, they were raising money to make and send blankets to children in africa without parents. by day four...they had reached their goal. on day five...they doubled their goal. what a blessing for our kids to participate in something that they will remember forever! god is so good! though the days are crazy, my dear friend kim and i enjoy a little bit of shopping time while the kids are busy at vbs (oh, and this year, hampton asked what "vbs" meant...ha!), adult pooltime, pooltime amongst the kiddos, and late night chat time! the other traditions are dinner out, funnelcakes, snowcones and s-mores! a new addition this year...sky zone. a place filled with trampolines, where the kids could jump for a solid hour! a fun new tradition for sure! the week goes by way too fast! thanks for the memories!
